The Gossip Girl reboot is full of pop culture-laden dialogue, incorporating plenty of IRL people, places, and things into the modernized storyline. A recent episode included a reference to celeb couple Suki Waterhouse and Robert Pattinson —and not only did the model definitely take note of the line, she had some words for the series as well.

In the third ep, which hit HBO Max on July 22, Luna (Zión Moreno) talks with Zoya (Whitney Peak) about her budding romance with Obie (Eli Brown), who just so happens to be the ex-boyfriend of her half-sister, Julien (Jordan Alexander). Whew! Zoya and Obie are gaining a lot of attention throughout the school, not to mention on Gossip Girl’s growing Instagram account, and Luna decides to inform Zoya: “As far as the press is concerned, he's R-Patz and you're Suki Nobody.”

A few days after the episode aired, Suki took to Twitter to comment on the line. “Another day to be reminded that women can also be the patriarchy,” the model wrote, tagging the official Gossip Girl account along with writer Lila Feinberg. In another tweet, she added, “Seeing critiques of patriarchy and sexism, then I get name checked as somebody’s ‘nobody’ girlfriend. Make it make sense!” Suki’s tweets have since been deleted, but screenshots have been obtained by Glamour.

Gossip Girl hasn’t responded to Suki’s comments at the time of writing, but the model isn’t the first celeb to address dialogue in the new HBO series. Earlier this summer, influencer Olivia Jade spoke out on TikTok after the reboot’s first episode included a reference to the college admissions scandal involving her parents, Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli.

“And everything will be fine so long as you win,” Luna tells Julien in the first ep. “Olivia Jade gained followers when her mom went to jail.” In response, Olivia posted a TikTok of the scene in question, adding, “No I didn’t.”

HBO Max's Gossip Girl reboot debuted earlier this summer, telling the story of a fresh class of Upper East Siders being tormented by a brand-new Gossip Girl — on social media this time. New episodes premiere every Thursday at 3:01 a.m. ET/12:01 a.m. PT, with Episode No. 5 slated to hit the streaming service on August 5.
