From Cosmopolitan

The first time intrepid girl detective Veronica Mars hit our screens was in 2004. The series had everything: a best friend’s murder (and a young Amanda Seyfried), high school warfare between the haves and have-nots, and the most surprising ship to ever sail. Of course, I’m talking about Veronica Mars (Kristen Bell) and Logan Echolls (Jason Dohring), bitter enemies (he was actually a psychopath at first, let’s be real) turned soulmates.

But TBH, it’s probably impossible to remember everything that went down over the course of three seasons, a movie, and two whole books. Here’s everything you really need to know before launching into Hulu’s new season of our old favorite.

First things first: Where does the new season pick up?

The fourth season of Veronica Mars takes place five years after the 2014 movie where Veronica is forced to reunite with her ex Logan when he’s accused of murdering his girlfriend Carrie Bishop. Of course, by the end the two fall for each other all over again.

Are Logan and Veronica still together?

LoVe is still in the air, don’t worry. The former “obligatory psychotic jackass” of Neptune High (remember when he literally started a homeless-men fighting ring?) is now kinda the perfect guy. But he’s not around all the time.

In the 2014 movie, it’s revealed that Logan joined the navy, but what you might not know is that since being cleared of murder and getting back together with V, he has moved up in the ranks. In the Veronica Mars novels The Thousand Dollar Tan Line and Mr. Kiss and Tell, Logan is a naval intelligence officer who has to pick up and ship out on secret missions at any moment.

What’s up with Mars Investigations and Daddy Keith Mars?

Veronica Mars gave up a very cushy job as a lawyer in New York to become a partner with her father at Mars Investigations.

In the movie, Keith’s (Enrico Colantoni) is involved in a hit-and-run while meeting with a witness about the corrupt sheriff. That will explain why he is now walking with a cane and struggling with other medical issues in the new season.

Why are Veronica and Weevil on bad terms now?

Everyone’s fave biker gang leader, Weevil (Francis Capra), is back in the game after attempting to leave a life of crime. In the movie, he’s enjoying his place as an upstanding citizen with a wife and daughter when he’s shot attempting to help out Celeste Kane (never get involved with the Kane family, damn).

She freakin’ shoots him when he tries to interfere with a group of bikers who are harassing her. The police plant a gun on him so the rich woman could claim self-defense.

What you’d need Mr. Kiss and Tell to know is that he was acquitted, but that’s not all. After Mars Investigations attempts to help him sue the sheriff’s department and shed a light on their corruption, he settles out of court for the cash. Veronica’s pretty pissed that he took the easy way out and that he rejoined the PCHers.

Wait, the guy from New Girl is in this?

Don’t you remember Leo (Max Greenfield)? Well, you’ve gotta! He was a deputy in the original series who had the hots for our girl Veronica. She used to string him along in order to steal evidence on the Lilly Kane murder case. They even ended up dating before she started hooked up with Logan. Now that I think about it, she was in high school and he was 20…oof.

Anyways, he’s ended up helping her out a lot over the years, and they have always had a sweet chemistry between them. Get ready to see much more of him in the new season.

BUT WHERE’S MAC?

Sorry, the world’s best techie is up to something in Istanbul. Maybe next season?
