Studs Is The New Piercing Shop That’s Like a Grown-Up Claire's

Remember how exciting it was when your parents would let you make a pit stop at Claire’s in the local mall and you’d go wild spending your allowance on lip gloss, One Direction merch, and, of course, earrings? Well, thanks to Studs, a new piercing spot in New York City, you’ll soon be able to relive that feeling again.

At first, Studs might give you major Claire’s vibes but the new piercing brand is more like its older, cooler, and wiser sister — what with its onsite piercings, modern and chic jewelry, and neon-yellow décor.

Founded by Anna Harman and Lisa Bubbers, Studs is definitely not like the mall shops of your past, for a few reasons. For one, they pierce with a needle, not a gun, and every piercer at the shop is a trained professional. They also pierce with implant-grade metals only and offer post-piercing support — so you can get a stylish new addition to your ear without compromising safety.

For now, at least, you can only get your ears pierced at Studs but, fear not, because they offer a whopping ten different spots to choose from — from the classic cartilage to the modern rook — depending on the look you want.

They’ve also kept their prices accessible. According to the Studs team, “piercing costs a flat fee of $35 for one hole and $50 for two, and piercing jewelry ranges from $30-$180 per earring.” You can definitely find something that fits your budget and fulfills your piercing fantasies, especially with their selection of “curated earscapes," which feature everything from celestial jewels to adorable charms.

Even if it's been a long time since your Claire's days, Studs is a modern, fun, safe and playful way to express yourself through jewelry — whether you’re in the market for a new dainty, asymmetrical or statement piercing or simply want to revamp the ones you already have. Crawlers, cuffs, studs, hoops, huggies... you name it, Studs got it.

“My co-founder, Lisa Bubbers, and I founded Studs because we saw an opportunity to create a new destination for Gen Z to get all their ear-piercing and jewelry needs,” says Studs co-founder and CEO Anna Harman. “Studs offers accessibly-priced ear piercings (done in a healthy and safe way with needles) and combines that with selling on-trend fashion earrings. Studs' customers pierce their ears and wear earrings in order to express themselves, so we wanted them to experience Studs both in-store and online as a place where they can design their unique look.”

For now, Studs only physical store is in New York City, though the company hopes to expand to new locations soon. And while you’ll have to travel to the big apple (and the Nolita neighborhood, to be specific) to get pierced at Studs, you can shop their jewelry online too. Both the shop and the site officially launch on Tuesday, November 19 — just in time to deck yourself (and your ears) for the holidays.
