Bindi Irwin is beaming in her recent photos, which were taken shortly after her engagement to her longtime boyfriend Chandler Powell. The whole family is thrilled, but as her mom Terri reminded us, there was one member missing from the sweet photos: Beloved TV personality Steve Irwin, who died in 2006 from an accident that occurred while filming an eight-foot-wide stingray. Terri’s congratulatory message to her daughter mentioned how he would have reacted to the happy news.

“Best day ever! Chandler asked and beautiful @BindiIrwin said yes. I am so very happy, and I know Steve would be too. Congratulations!!” Terri captioned a photo she shared on Twitter.

The entire family is absolutely gushing over the news, as Bindi’s younger brother Robert also congratulated the couple on Instagram.

“I am beyond happy for you two,” he captioned a series of photos. “You are true soulmates and have always been so completely perfect for each other. Love you both and congratulations.”

As for the bride-to-be, she’s already prepared to walk down the aisle and marry the man she met at a zoo six years ago.

“On my birthday I said ‘yes’ and ‘forever’ to the love of my life,” she wrote on Instagram. “Here’s to a lifetime of friendship, purpose and unconditional love. — Now let’s get married already!”

After meeting at the Australia Zoo, it seemed fitting that Chandler asked Bindi to marry him at the same location. He's been a seamless fit in the Irwin family, as he also shares a passion for conservation. Earlier this year, he dedicated a post to Steve and called him, “the man who inspired me to follow my dreams from the moment I can remember.”

The American wakeboarder relocated, moving from Florida to Australia to be closer to Bindi in January 2018. He’s even working alongside her little bro as a member of the Croc Team at the Australia Zoo’s Steve Irwin Wildlife Reserve.

"I've got my khaki on and I am loving it!" he told People about his move. A man who loves animals and a khaki uniform? Steve would be loving it too.
