Sterling Ruby, the artist behind Calvin Klein's Americana sets and installations under Raf Simons, as well as his own rural-inspired ceramics, video, and sculptures, is launching his own ready-to-wear line called S.R. STUDIO. LA. CA. The collection will encompass womenswear, menswear, as well as accessories.

The collection also coordinates with Ruby's appearance as the Special Guest at Pitti Immagine Uomo no. 96 on June 13, 2019. Ruby's line will debut at the event. “I’ve always been interested in the behavioral power that comes with clothing," he says about the collection. "For years I have been privately exploring garments as a medium, as something that impacts the way one can think, feel, and move. I couldn’t be more excited to finally put my clothing out into the world.”

The launch will mark Ruby's first foray into clothing, although he has been aligned with Simons for years, designing entire installations for the designer. Ruby, who was born in Germany and studied art in the U.S., has always been inspired by hip hop culture, violence, masculinity, and social issues in the country. His artwork often riffs off of and serves as a commentary on American culture.

Givenchy will also head Pitti Uomo, with Clare Waight Keller staging her first stand-alone men's show on June 12th for the French fashion house.
