It took two harrowing overtimes for the Oregon State Beavers (13-11) to prevail over the Washington Huskies(17-8) 97-94. After guard Stephen Thompson Jr. missed a pair of three throws that would have put the Beavers ahead with 3.3 seconds left in the first overtime, he would complete his redemptive arc in the second extra period.

The Oregon State junior tapped into the ice circulating through his veins on the final possession by creating just enough space to square up and sink a 3-pointer to break the tie with 0.3 seconds remaining.

In 49 minutes, Thompson registered 22 points, six assists and n eye-popping six steals for the Beavers. Tres Tinkle led all scorers and nearly recorded a triple double, by dropping 29 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists.

Last Saturday night, the Huskies were on the other end of a buzzer-beating dagger from beyond the arc that toppled Arizona. The Beavers have no at-large bid scenarios, but their win dealt a blow to the Huskies’ NCAA Tournament possibilities. Most analysts were beginning to project Washington as a member of the 68-team field, however, Saturday’s road loss was their second defeat in a row.

The Huskies will attempt to halt their slide at home against Utah on Thursday before hosting Colorado on Saturday.
