Stephen Colbert experiences a ‘first’ when fire alarm interrupts monologue
It was a first for Stephen Colbert on The Late Show this week, when he revealed during Thursday’s show that a fire alarm went off during the taping of Wednesday’s monologue. “Cheese it, it's the cops!” Colbert yelled as he took off when the alarm first sounded.And what’s the first thing we learned to do when there’s a fire? Check with the producers. At least, that’s what Colbert did. He stepped out of the frame and can be heard chatting with a producer about the alarm, and pointing out that there is no smoke. Colbert decides to come back in front of the camera and declares that they will keep rolling. Although the show that made it to air Wednesday night did not have the fire alarm.The clip continues with Colbert joking that the alarm is happening because his jokes are so hot. When they cut back to Thursday’s monologue, Colbert continued with the jokes.“We later found out later that the alarm went off because Donald Trump's pants were on fire,” Colbert said.The Late Show With Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 on CBS.Check out the last time Stephen Colbert's monologue was rudely interrupted:
