YAMINAH MAYO: Hi. I'm Yaminah. Welcome to my coveted closet. Let's get ready.

I live in the Bronx, New York. Uptown is like a little bit more flashy, a little more flamboyant than anywhere else in New York. I would describe my style in three words-- playful, colorful, comfortable. I want my style to say about me, I got money. [LAUGHS] Manifest it.

Sometimes, I'm like not in the mood to talk. I'm a Cancer. So I'm very emotional. I use my clothing to do the talking for me because sometimes it can say what I just can't say.

An outfit I love is this Suno piece that I got on The RealReal. I wore this to Fashion Week last season in September, and I was actually like locked out of the show because I was late. But then it all worked out, and I ended up having a fabulous meal afterwards. So every time I see this, it reminds me of that.

Another piece that I love is this cashmere sweater by Leret Leret. It's one of like my favorite-- sounds kind of bougie-- cashmere brands. But every single time I wear this sweater, it just reminds me of like a whole night of laughing, and good wine, and delicious food.

I feel like all of my favorite outfits involve food. But I wore this to like a really beautiful birthday dinner. A night of good wine will really bring out the good memories in any piece of clothing.

This Christopher Esber dress, it's very heavy. The fun thing about this dress is that it has buttons, and you can unbutton and change the silhouette of the dress. So right now it has no slit, but you can like unbutton it as much as you want. You could also turn this into a top just by like removing the bottom. And you can cinch the waist as much as you want. And it's a piece that's totally worth investment because it's malleable.

One pair of shoes that I absolutely love are these Marni Fussbett mules. I believe that's the name of them. They caused me a great deal of stress to find them, but they were completely worth it. And I love how furry they are. Another pair of shoes that caused me great stress to find. I wear them most with like jeans and like a white T-shirt because they're such a statement piece.

The next shoe that I absolutely love is a little more practical, the Gucci and Adidas collaboration. I call them a Aduccis or Gudidas. People were making fun of them, and they said that they look like a football cleat, but it's fine by me. They're like really funky, and they're like very old mannish. And they just brighten up a plain outfit.

One piece that's a conversation starter in my wardrobe is this Sid Neigum, "Nee-jum," dress. It has like a huge floral print. The silhouette is like otherworldly. Still trying to figure out how to wear it in the city because MTA and rats. But once I figure it out, it's over for everybody.

I definitely let my personality shine through when I'm getting dressed via color and prints. I try to have fun with my wardrobe, but in a more sophisticated way. I don't want to look like a second grade art teacher.

I'm a loud, boisterous person, but sometimes I can be a little shy. So I tend to stick to more a classic silhouette-- A-line skirts, straight-leg jeans, that type of thing. But I definitely invest in like a good bag and like a crazy shoe. So they could be like conversation starters. And then like if I don't feel like having a personality that day, my clothes do the talking for me.

One pair of shoes that everyone should wear in their wardrobe is definitely a pair of loafers. These are a little crazy than like a classic loafer. These Gucci Houdan loafers zhuzh up any like kind of bland outfit just because it has like the platform present.

It's important for me to look through every piece in my wardrobe. I'm an emotional shopper, so I buy what makes me happy, and then I'll forget because the dopamine is gone. This bag, for instance, it's constantly like at the forefront of my wardrobe just so I can remember that I bought it.

But it's like this really cool like snakeskin bag. And it fits so much, like a whole LaCroix and lip gloss. But it was all the way in the back, and then I forgot that I owned it. And I was out here buying brown bags for nothing.

If I could say one thing to someone who is afraid to be themselves, the negative thoughts in your head are typically not your own. So you should not take ownership of them. As long as you're like literally not causing anyone harm, do you.
