It's time to hit the gym—with a new workout! Alpine skier Mikaela Shiffrin recently shared a simple workout that gets her ready to hit the slopes. The athlete was strong as ever and so toned as she completed several pull-ups without missing a beat.
Mikaela is a record-holding skier, so while she may have made this exercise look easy in her stories, don't be fooled. It's pretty difficult!
ICYDK, pull-ups activate a lot of important muscle groups—including your abs, a trainer previously told Women's Health. No wonder Mikaela's core is so sculpted!
Pro tip: pull-ups are not to be confused with chin-ups.
As you can see in the video, Mikaela's palms are facing away from her, which is the key difference between the two moves. However, both exercises improve posture, give you stronger biceps, define your muscles, and more. Mikaela isn't kidding when she claims this exercise gets her ready to ski!
Mikaela's form is also extremely well done, according to tips from personal trainers.
A few key things to consider before trying out a pull-up of your own? Make sure your hands remain close to your shoulders. For extra oomph, you can tuck your knees toward your chest to further engage your lower body.
And, let's face it. Mikaela's workout gear also has to be half the fun, right? While I can't give you her exact two-piece set—I have found some wonderful dupes.
With this 'fit and your knowledge of proper pull-up etiquette, you're def going to stand out at your next solo gym sesh.
