As you continue to keep yourself entertained during the time of quarantine and social distancing, you might default to the streaming offerings of Netflix and Hulu, or the rentable films on iTunes and Prime Video, but don't overlook the robust fare on YouTube. Yes, the video platform does offer films to buy and rent, but while we're all under orders to stay indoors, it's also offering a handful of films to watch … for free. Check out your options below.

Lionsgate Films

The movie studio will livestream a number of its popular releases through YouTube for the next four Fridays at 9 p.m. ET. The program, called Lionsgate Live! A Night at the Movies and hosted by Jamie Lee Curtis, was created to mimic the traditional moviegoing experience. Donations will benefit Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation, which aids workers affected by COVID-19 in the film industry.

YouTube's Own Library

There are already a number of movies and shows available to watch for free—with ads—on YouTube; now just might be the time to dive into the collection. Don't know where to start? Here are a few surprising suggestions.

Super Size Me (2004): Morgan Spurlock's famous deep dive into the fast-food world is available to stream. And so is its sequel.

Sleepover (2004): Relive your middle school days with this girls-night classic starring Alexa PenaVega and Sara Paxton.

Rabbit Hole (2010): This oft-forgotten indie drama earned Nicole Kidman an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. She and Aaron Eckhart star as grieving parents who just lost a young child.

Before We Go (2014): Sure, the film's Rotten Tomatoes score is far from enticing, but the opportunity to watch Chris Evans in a romance for free certainly is.

Penelope (2006): Christina Ricci is a young woman born with a pig-snout nose, and James McAvoy is a man hired to pose as one of her suitors. You can probably predict how this romance ends.

Into the Blue (2005): Remember the sun-kissed action flick starring Jessica Alba and Paul Walker? It's right here, gratis.

Labor Pains (2009): Why not catch up with Lindsay Lohan's deep-cut filmography while we await her comeback? Here, she plays a secretary who fakes a pregnancy to avoid losing her job.

Yentl (1983): Barbara Streisand co-wrote, co-directed, produced, and stars in the musical drama about a young Jewish girl who disguises herself as a boy to earn an education.

The Pink Panther (2006): Oh, you mean the famous detective remake starring Steve Martin and Beyoncé Knowles? Yup, that's the one.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988): Steve Martin and Michael Caine are a hilarious duo of competing con artists.

The Boy Downstairs (2017): This indie film starring Girls' Zosia Mamet focuses on a young woman who unknowingly moves into her ex's apartment building.

A number of YouTube Originals have been made available ahead of the paywall too, so you don't need to be a YouTube Premium subscriber to tune in.
