'Station 19' Fans Are Absolutely Devastated Over the Show's Episode Announcement

So much is happening in season 4 of Station 19 at the moment that we can't imagine the show going on winter hiatus now — unfortunately though, that seems to be exactly what's happening.
In December, fans watched a heart-pounding Grey's Anatomy-Station 19 crossover episode in which Dean (Okieriete Onaodowan) and Robert (Boris Kodjoe) take matters into their own hands when they learn teenage girls have been kidnapped during the COVID-19 crisis. Simply put, the episode was called "Out of Control" and it was exactly that.
Turns out though, it was the season 4 winter finale — in other words, a new episode of Station 19 will not be airing for quite a while. When the show first hinted that the episode was the last one of 2020, fans on Instagram expressed their disappointment.
"Winter Finale? It's been 5 episodes!!" one fan commented on an Instagram promotion of the episode (which has since been deleted). "I am not ready for the break. What am I going to do without my weekly shows 😭," another lamented. "Winter finale !? It just started 🙄," someone else said.
So, when does Station 19 season 4 return to ABC with a new episode?
Sorry, folks, but you're going to have to wait a bit to find out what happens next: The next episode of Station 19 doesn't premiere on ABC until Thursday, March 11, 2021. Right after the midseason return, Grey's Anatomy continues its season at 9 p.m. ET.
While the show was originally scheduled to come back on March 4, Deadline reports that ABC has given both Station 19 and Grey's Anatomy "extra cushion" given the unexpected production delays caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Of course, it's normal for network scripted shows to take a hiatus this time of year. But given that ABC had only aired five episodes before breaking, the news understandably came as a shock to some viewers. Like so many TV shows and movies this year though, the pandemic disrupted Station 19's production schedule, resulting in a late season 4 premiere on November 12.
Right now, it's unclear how many episodes will be left before the Station 19 season finale, but if past seasons are any indication, there could be as many as 12 episodes and as few as five. Like many shows, it's probable, especially with the late start and long winter hiatus, that season 4 of Station 19 will have a smaller episode total because of the pandemic.
At this point, all we can do is hope that there will be plenty of action when the show comes back in March and that the show writers won't torture us with too many cliffhangers in the eventual season finale.
