From Town & Country

The fourth season of The Crown finished filming right as the coronavirus pandemic hit Europe. And now, almost exactly 12 months later, the cast of the Netflix royal drama is heading into the 2021 Golden Globes with a total of six nominations, the most of any television series this year.

It's up for best television series, drama, and actors Gillian Anderson (who played Margaret Thatcher), Helena Bonham Carter (Princess Margaret), Josh O'Connor (Prince Charles), Emma Corrin (Princess Diana), and Olivia Colman (Queen Elizabeth) all picked up individual nominations for their performances. Additionally, while Emerald Fennell did not score a nomination for her portrayal of Camilla Parker Bowles in the latest season of The Crown, she did receive two nods for her feature film, Promising Young Woman.

Sadly, though, the stars of the show will all be celebrating separately tonight, due to ongoing health and safety concerns related to COVID-19. "Good luck and all my love to my Crown family tonight wish we could all be together," Corrin wrote on Instagram stories early in the day. Her on-screen husband O'Connor shared a similar sentiment. "Wishing all my @thecrownnetflix friends the best of luck for tonight...You're all lush." He also posted a photo of himself getting ready for tonight's virtual show; he'll be wearing Loewe.

Anderson, too, posted that she was missing her costars on this special day, and shared a behind-the-scenes photo of her getting ready look (complete with space-themed PJs by Olivia von Halle) on social media:

Carter and Colman aren't as active on social media as their co-stars, but we'll be sure to update this post, should photos of their awards show looks surface.

In total, The Crown will have six seasons, but when it returns for its fifth chapter, it will have a completely new cast. Notably, Harry Potter actress Imelda Staunton is set to take over from Olivia Colman as the Queen; Leslie Manville will play Princess Margaret; and Elizabeth Debicki will play Princess Diana.
