Friday is gonna be a big day. Not only is Krispy Kreme offering a $2 dozen deal on those limited-edition Chocolate Glazed donuts, but Starbucks is giving out free Nitro Cold Brew all day.

To celebrate the drink's national rollout (it's at 80 percent of Starbucks' stores) and to save us from that scorching summer heat, the brand is serving up shots of its Nitro Cold Brew on Friday, August 2. You'll want to get in early though—the event is happening at "only while supplies last" at "participating locations."

If you're a little confused about this new cold brew concoction, you're not alone. I had to do some research to figure out what the nitro hype was all about. According to the site, Starbuck's small-batch cold brew is infused "with nitrogen for a naturally sweet flavor and cascading, velvety crema."

FYI, that's just a fancy way of saying it's a new and improved version of your classic cold brew.

Don't believe me? Well would you believe BILL NYE? Starbucks enlisted the "Science Guy" to explain the drink to customers. "Starbucks Nitro is about so much more than coffee," he says in the four minute clip. "It's about the extraction of diatomic molecules from the air then reintroducing them into a smooth cup of Nitro Cold Brew joe. It's chemistry. It's physics. It's anatomy. It's science!"

To take advantage of the offer, all you have to do is stop by a participating store (you should probably call your location and do a double check!) and snag that shot.
