Just as the PSL is a harbinger for fall for Starbucks’ fans around the world, the return of the Gingerbread Latte marks the beginning of the holiday season.
This year, however, the fan-favorite drink won’t be on menus.
When the chain released its long-awaited holiday lineup this week, people quickly noted that the cookie-inspired beverage was absent from the list.
Needless to say, people aren’t happy.
Don’t mind me I’m just trying to start a Twitter revolution bc I waited all year for a gingerbread latte I won’t get— Katie 🖤 (@xKatiexTylerx) November 2, 2019
Just found out @Starbucks isn’t bringing back the gingerbread latte this year. Thanks for ruining my entire holiday season. This is the ONLY flavored beverage I like & I was dying to finally get to have it again tomorrow, only to find that that’s not gonna happen.— Midge (@kurdiaaaa) November 6, 2019
Starbucks hasn’t commented yet on why the latte won’t be returning, but a representative did say that other seasonal favorites are back on the menu, including the Eggnog and Peppermint Mocha lattes.
One Twitter account, Barista Problems (@baristaproblem0), is offering up a solution for fans who can’t bear to go without a gingerbread-flavored drink from Starbucks this season:
Hot tip if you're angry about not having gingerbread this season:— Barista Problems (@baristaproblem0) November 6, 2019
Order a regular latte and ask your barista to steam the PSL spice topping into the milk & put it on top of the foam. It has ginger and other spices that will create a "mock" gingerbread latte.
