Starbucks employee blasts manager in front of customers on last day of job

A former Starbucks employee is going viral for the creative — and very public — way he decided to quit his job.

Anesti Danelis posted a video of his resignation to YouTube on Dec. 9, 2019, where it has received nearly 300,000 in just four days. In the clip, the former Starbucks worker announces he is quitting by performing an outrageous, NSFW song — in front of his manager, his co-workers and numerous customers.

"If I could get your attention super quick," Danelis says at the start of the video. "I’ve been working here for a few years and it’s been so nice to work here."

He goes on to tell his "audience" that he has written a song directed specifically at his manager, who is not named in the video. Standing in front of the store’s entrance with a guitar around his neck, Danelis begins to sing.

"Dear manager, I’ve been working here for so long. I’ve got something I want to tell you, so I thought I would say it in a song,” Danelis sings. "F*** this, I quit. F*** this place, I quit. I don’t want to work for someone who treats their employees like s***."

The video was filmed inside a Starbucks in Toronto, according to an interview with Danelis in Narcity. The former employee told the news site he was nervous when he started singing but began to gain confidence as the crowd responded to him.

In his video, Danelis goes on to sing that he’s now found a "way better job," and it’s his last day at Starbucks.

"I know I’ve got like 10 more shifts, but f*** it," he adds. "I’m not gonna show up anyways."

At least some customers seem amused by the former employee’s song, as many can be seen smiling and laughing in the video. Danelis also added some flair to his YouTube version of the performance, adding lyrics that cycle through the video in a sing-along fashion.

Danelis concludes his musical number by singing that he’ll miss his co-workers and "lovely" customers, before running through a list of reasons he disliked his manager.

"You can take that time that you tried to get the company to fire me for doing something that you told me to do,” he sings. “Or that time that I said I wanted to work toward a promotion, but you laughed in my face… and shove it up your large bumhole."

Danelis' song was met with a round of applause from the store, and the clip of his performance has received an equally positive response. Many of the top comments on the YouTube video praise his creativity and boldness.

"Get this on iTunes and then sell it at all Starbucks locations," one comment reads.

"This guy did what everyone wishes they could do when quitting a crappy job. What a legend," another person wrote.

For his part, Danelis still seems happy with the decision to quit in such an outlandish manner. He told Narcity he performs music and comedy around Toronto, adding that his new job gives him a lot more flexibility to focus on those pursuits.

As for those remaining 10 shifts? Danelis said he never even considered returning to work them.

"There’s no way I was going to go back after that song," he told Narcity.
