Star Wars Has Revealed Kylo Ren's Actual Final Words to Rey in 'The Rise of Skywalker'
After three episodes of channelling chaotic, angsty Sith energy, Kylo Ren finally breaks good at the end of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and officially becomes a Jedi: Ben Solo.
At the end of the Skywalker Saga's final chapter, he revives Rey (this is after she spends just about all of her energy defeating Grandpa Palpatine). Then, the two engage in some intense staring, followed by a kiss, and eventually, Solo dies, his body disappearing as he floated away to wherever Force ghosts go.
Now, thanks to a novelization of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker that will be released later this month, we’ve learned that Rey and Solo shared some parting words via telepathic Force chat (or something like that). According to ComicBook.com, the novel reveals that Ben had some final words for Rey in one of the film’s last scenes.
“A voice came to her through the Force, clear and strong.
‘I will always be with you,’ Ben said.
She smiled. Let the truth of it wash over her.
‘No one’s ever really gone,’ she whispered.”
The exchange, while sweet, might’ve come across a little more heartfelt if, you know, Ben and Rey actually said it out loud to each other (instead of making us guess what all that staring was about). Plus, “No one’s ever really gone” would’ve been a nice callback to The Last Jedi—it was a line spoken by Luke Skywalker in the film.
The novelization of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker —which, hopefully might give us some closure with the film’s more disappointing and confusing moments—releases on March 17.
