About a year after hearing the news that Stanley Tucci would be gracing our TV screens with a travel documentary, we finally have that very travel documentary! Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy premiered last Sunday on CNN and it's, of course, as delightful as expected.

In the six-part series, Stanley explores the food of Italy, something he recently told CNN was important for him to experience and show an American audience.

"I think in America there are a lot of very specific ideas about what is 'Italian,' and one of the reasons I wanted to do [my new] show is to dispel some of those myths about what Italy is," he told CNN. "People imagine it's always sunny and people are playing mandolins and eating pizza and chicken parmigiana—which isn't even an Italian dish."

In the first episode, he visited Campania, where he dined on everything from pizza to a cake made from Amalfi Coast lemons and it's enough to make you weep with jealousy. Even his wife Felicity Blunt shows up for a spaghetti dinner! The whole thing is pretty glamorous and the closest thing we'll be getting to a fancy vacation for a long time.

Stanley's family is from Italy, and he even lived in Florence in the '70s, according to Deadline. Not only will the four-part documentary be entertaining, it will also be a fun project inspired by his family history. Stanley told Deadline that his connection to Italy is part of the reason he was so excited about this opportunity.

"I wanted to do this series because I am fascinated by the diversity of Italian cuisine and set out to gain a better understanding of the country’s rich history and culture. This was a passion project and love letter to the place where my family is from," he said. "I am thrilled to be working with CNN on this project as an admirer of their reporting and original series, which are incredibly smart, compelling, and beautifully produced.”

Subsequent episodes of the show are set to take Stanley to places like Milan, Tuscany, Bologna, and more, so be sure to whip up some fresh pasta to enjoy while you watch! The show airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on CNN.
