Blues to retire Chris Pronger's No. 44
Chris Pronger’s No. 44 will hang from the rafters of the Enterprise Center at some point next season.
On Saturday, the Blues announced that the team will retire the number of the former defenceman that mastered his craft in St. Louis. He will be the eighth player to have their number retired by the franchise.
The formal date for the number raising has not been set, but it will be during one of the 41 home games during the 2020-21 regular season.
Pronger was a dominant force during his 18-year career in the NHL and now he’s getting recognition from the franchise that he spent the majority of that time with.
Through his nine seasons with the Blues, Pronger scored 84 goals and 376 points and still holds the franchise record for career plus-minus. As a member of the Blues, he was able to earn his only Norris Trophy and Hart Trophy during the 1999-00 Presidents’ Trophy-earning campaign for St. Louis.
He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2015.
Since officially retiring in 2017 — even though his last game in the NHL was during the 2011-12 season — Pronger has been the senior advisor of hockey operations for the Florida Panthers.
