  • Elton John celebrated his 76th birthday with his husband, David Furnish, and their children.

  • Furnish gifted John 100 Oak trees grown from acorns from a favorite old tree.

  • John recently decided to stop touring, in part to have more time with family.

Like any good Rocketman, Elton John has amassed a lifetime of memories in the 76 trips he’s made around the sun. And this year, for his birthday, John’s husband David Furnish got the legendary singer 100 gifts that will likely live on well into the future. A future that, we've heard, lies beyond the yellow brick road.

According to the Mirror, John "...spent his special day with his husband David, 60, and their two children Zachary Furnish-John, 13, and Elijah Furnish-John, 10." Amidst the festivities, which John posted images of on his official Instagram account, Furnish gifted John 100 baby Oak trees.

"From the most spectacular cake - to the gift of 100 Oak trees grown from acorns off the old tree that’s been gracing my driveway for centuries, it was a real celebration," John said in the caption to his post, which featured images of the 100 tiny flower pots with their sprouting baby Oak trees.

John, a musical icon with a career spanning more than 50 years, recently announced that his current tour would be his final one, allowing him more time to spend at home with his family. However, John's retirement from the road hardly means he'll stop producing new music.

"Sir Elton has now reportedly been contacted by fellow music icon Dolly Parton to create a new tune," the Mirror notes. Parton, herself 77, has begun work on a rock and roll album, in commemoration of her recent induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And who better to collaborate with on this record than the singer of "Crocodile Rock," himself an inductee from the Class of 1994.

And, you know, if Elton runs out of room for all those Oak trees, maybe they can plant a few in Dollywood.
