Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, just welcomed their first child together, a very cute baby boy named August Philip Hawke Brooksbank. August’s arrival was announced on February 9, and Eugenie shared his name a few days later, saying, “Our hearts are full of love for this little human, words can’t express. We are excited to be able to share these photos with you.⁣”

So, what’s the meaning behind this cutie’s name? Eugenie already explained that Philip and Hawke are family names, but let’s talk about August! According to royal reporter Katie Nicholl, who spoke to Entertainment Tonight, “August is an unusual first name [as] he’s not an August baby. But apparently, it was the name that the couple really liked.” Also, Hello! magazine points out that Prince Albert’s middle name was Augustus, so there is a royal link.

Meanwhile, Philip is a shout-out to Eugenie’s grandfather Prince Philip and Hawke is a name in Jack’s family. As Eugenie put it on Insta Stories, “On his grandfather’s birthday weekend, thinking of my grandfather, we are introducing our little boy. He is named after his great-grandfather and both of his great x5 grandfathers. August Philip Hawke Brooksbank.”
