Southwest Will Now Match Your Elite Status On Another Airline Until December 31| Travel + Leisure

Southwest Airlines' latest promotion has some major perks.

The airline, well known for its money-saving sales will now match your elite status with any other domestic U.S. airline, in a new deal. In other words, if you’re an elite customer for American Airlines, you can also be an elite customer with Southwest too without having to earn lots of points, pay extra fees, or jump through any of hoops.

To apply, you must sign up for Rapid Rewards, Southwest’s loyalty program, to receive a number of benefits including best seat availability, priority boarding, priority check-in and security lines, an earning bonus, and more.

Then, you can email your information via a link on Southwest’s website to verify your elite status. Or, you can email your first and last name, Rapid Rewards number, and a screenshot or photo of your card that shows your current elite status with a U.S. based carrier.

The promotion ends on December 31, 2019.

Travelers who take advantage of the deal will score priority boarding, a 25% point-earning bonus, free same-day standby for an earlier flight, priority check-in and security lane access, and a dedicated A-List member phone line.

This status is only valid for 12 months from registration and cannot be renewed more than once a year. But, you can extend your status for an additional year if you fly three round trip select flights or six one-way select flights within 90 days of their enrollment date. All flights must be booked and flown in this period to qualify.

Plan accordingly!
