If you’re a fan of South Park, you’ll already know that the show is famed for its use of satire – and for not holding back when it comes to taking a pop at famous figures. The same is true for its latest episode titled 'The Worldwide Privacy Tour', which sees Prince Harry and Meghan Markle uncomfortably mocked by the programme, via two characters, who although aren’t named Harry or Meghan, are very clearly based on the couple.

One character is a ginger male and his wife wears an outfit identical to one worn by one the Duchess of Sussex at Trooping the Colour in 2018.

'The Worldwide Privacy Tour' episode sees the 'Prince of Canada and his wife' on a world tour protesting for privacy, before ending up in South Park. The princely character is also seen promoting a book named Waaaagh, in an apparent reference to Prince Harry's memoir, SPARE. The episode is also packed with references to the couple's Netflix series Harry & Meghan.

Of course, it's worth saying that whilst the Sussexes have asked for more privacy – for example, quite fairly, they're pushing back against tabloid papers publishing harmful, inaccurate or personal details about them without permission, or flying planes over their home trying to photograph their children – that's not the same thing as saying they want to disappear from the public eye entirely. So, there's definitely nuance to this whole situation which is often overlooked.

The couple participate in a TV interview too, with the prince carrying a sign that reads: 'We want privacy'. When the interviewer asks the prince if he hates journalists, he replies: "That’s right. We just want to be normal people. All this attention is so hard."

The show's long-running character, Kyle, also makes a mockery of the pair: "They have this huge jet parked in front of my house and they keep on wanting me to buy their book."

But despite the episode's brutal criticisms, plenty of fans of the adult cartoon rushed to social media to share their thoughts, calling its humour "pure gold".

Someone shared a clip from the episode, captioning it: "South Park just destroyed Harry and Meghan." While another social media user wrote: "Calling his new book "WAAGH" is just so utterly perfect!! 😂😂🤭"

One eagle-eyed fan said: "Of all the brilliance in the South Park episode, this [referencing of Meghan's magazine covers] was exceptional. Only on screen for two seconds, it featured accurate spoofs of many of Meghan's magazine covers."

Another person said: "I’ve never watched an episode of South Park in my life but this one on the gruesome twosome from Montecito is pure gold 😂😂”

Others however didn't find the episode as appealing. One user said: "I feel like I'm the only person who didn't find this episode that funny."

One Good Morning Britain presenter also described the episode as being "quite hard to watch", to which another presenter replied: "Listen I'm team Meghan, but I still think that was quite funny."

Fans also acknowledged how in 2011, South Park previously mocked Prince William and Princess Kate’s wedding – so it seems nobody in the Royal Family is safe.
