Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert is expected to miss four-to-six weeks with a bone bruise in his right knee, league sources told The Vertical.

Gobert suffered the injury in Friday’s home loss against the Miami Heat, when Dion Waiters dove into Gobert’s knee while going for a loose ball. The Jazz termed Gobert’s injury as a contusion, and he sat out Saturday’s victory against Brooklyn.

The 7-foot-1 Gobert has established himself as a face of the franchise and one of the best defensive centers in the league. He has averaged 13.9 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in 12 games this season.

Utah is 6-7 this season and will miss Gobert’s impact and reliability on the floor for the foreseeable future.

Gobert had his best season a year ago, making the NBA All-Defensive first team and becoming a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year. Gobert, 25, is in his fifth season with the Jazz.
