We haven’t even made it through Valentine’s Day, but apparently Russell Stover is already gearing up for Easter—and they’ve got surprising new options for your basket.
The latest is called Sours!, and it's basically a whole new take on your classic chocolate Easter bunny. The bunnies, which were shared by @Markie_Devo on Instagram, are a combo of a sour fruit flavor (blue raspberry, watermelon, or cherry) and white fudge. “Stop and Shop has rolled out with a few Easter drops early,” he wrote, before sharing photos of the new bunnies.
People had…thoughts in the comments. “Woah those sours look nasty,” one wrote. “What in the what?!” another said. “Those sours sound awful,” someone else chimed in.
Not everyone was turned off by the idea, though. “Sours 😍,” one person wrote, while another simply said, “What????? 😍.”
Russell Stover doesn’t have any mention of the new sour treats in their bunny line-up online, so it’s hard to say if this is a random science experiment or if sour bunnies are making a nationwide rollout. Either way, it’s a pretty safe bet that these will be an Easter basket talking point, no matter how you feel about them.
Basically, if you want to play it safe this Easter, go for your classic chocolate bunny. But if you want to really want to kick things up a notch—and maybe have a little Easter day family taste testing—this is a good way to get the party started.
