Here's a Much-Needed Update on Zac Efron's Love Life

If Zac Efron has been your celebrity crush since High School Musical premiered in 2006, you'll be happy to hear that he is reportedly back on the market. I know, right in time for a summer fling, too. So, while you celebrate this news, read on to remind yourself of the actors complicated and interesting dating history.

Is Zac Efron currently dating anyone?

Zac Efron is reportedly single after ending things with his Australian girlfriend, Vanessa Valladares. The pair was initially spotted together in the summer of 2020, having met at a cafe in Byron Bay, Australian where Vanessa worked.

Things reportedly got serious very quickly between them and there were even reports that they were looking to buy a house together. However, in the end, it didn't work out, and they reportedly split in April 2021.

Who has he dated in the past?

Zac has dated his fair share of models and actresses, but, if he really is dating Sarah, this will be his first athlete, that we know of. Here's a look back at Zac's extensive dating history:

Vanessa Hudgens (2005-2010)

Of course, I don't have to remind you that Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens dated for 5 years back in the early 2000s. The pair met on the set of High School Musical when they were just teenagers, but ended things in December 2010. Since then, the two have "completely lost contact," which is so unfortunate because I was still holding out hopes that Troy and Gabriella were IRL endgame.

Even though the two don't speak as much, there's no hard feelings. Vanessa recently commented how grateful she was to have dated Zac Efron when she did. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter Awards Chatter Podcast, Vanessa said that the relationship helped her deal with her sudden rise to stardom.

"We kinda blew up. It was this massive phenomenon all of a sudden and all eyes were on me,” she recalled. “And it’s just a really weird foreign thing to go through, and by being in a relationship, I feel like it kind of kept me stabilized and grounded, and I had someone to lean on who was going through it as well."

Though their relationship eventually ended, Vanessa said there was instant chemistry when she first met Zac. Vanessa's moved on to boyfriend, Austin Butler, and Zac's doing his own thing, but at least, we can rewatch HSM movies to relive those cute Troy and Gabriella days.

Lily Collins (2012-2013)

While Lily and Zac are hanging out a lot these days in order to promote their new film, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, where Zac plays infamous serial killer Ted Bundy, the two actually dated on and off between 2012 and 2013. Though the relationship was never officially confirmed, they were often seen together, holding hands at Disneyland, and even spending Valentine's Day together in 2012.

Sami Miró (2014-2016)

Zac started dating model Sami Miró in 2014. The two were absolutely adorable together, and Sami shared a lot of their relationship on social media.

The two broke up in 2016, after about two years of dating. Zac deleted all of his pics with Sami off his Instagram and even unfollowed her, leaving many to think the relationship didn't end on the best terms.

Alexandra Daddario (2017)

Another movie, another romance. Zac was suspected to be dating his Baywatch costar Alexandra Daddario back in 2017. They were super flirty together in interviews promoting the movie, and they posted adorable pics on social media, but their relationship was never confirmed.

Sarah Bro (2019)

Rumors that Sarah and Zac were dating began circulating after the two were spotted at a UFC fight in Las Vegas together where they sat ring side. According to a source from E! News, the two arrived to the fight together and "looked like they were having a great time." While they were seen "smiling and laughing in their seats," they were "not overly publicly affectionate," though the two did leave the event together.

The night before the UFC match, both Zac and Sarah posted Instagrams from a Los Angeles Kings hockey game. While they didn't post anything together, it can be assumed that the attended the event together.

Sarah is originally from Denmark, though she now lives in LA. The 23-year-old competed in the 4X100 freestyle relay for Denmark at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Vanessa Valladares (2020-2021)

Zac and Vanessa initially sparked romance rumors in the summer of 2020 after they were spotted together out in Byron Bay, Australia where they met at a cafe. Things apparently got serious very quickly and the pair were even rumored to be looking to buy a house together. Then, in November 2020, they reportedly split due to distance issues. Zac had to leave Byron Bay to film a new movie and their summer fling fizzled out.

Either those rumors were fake, though, or the pair eventually got back together because in January 2021 they were spotted again, this time walking hand-in-hand in Sydney, Australia.

The relationship apparently got serious pretty quickly. Zac's friend, Kyle Sandilands, spoke about the actor's relationship on an episode of his radio show, The Kyle and Jackie O Show. "He’s in love with this girl, Vanessa," Kyle said. "They’re lovely," he said. "Beautiful couple. They do everything together...They’re just really sweet. They seem really settled and nice."

In fact, things were going so well that Zac was reportedly going to take Vanessa with him to Canada in May 2021 to film a new project. Unfortunately, though, the pair allegedly called it quits before then, in April 2021, after about ten months together.
