Sophie Turner Made Joe Jonas Watch This Before She Agreed to Date Him

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are making the most of their quarantine: in-house DJ sets, makeovers, and movie marathons. That last activity came up during Jonas’s interview with James Corden on April 28. “We’ve been binge-watching Lord of the Rings during this time and building the Legos that go with the movies, which is quite fun,” he told the Late Late Show host.

How they ended up on Lord of the Rings is pretty funny. Interestingly, it actually starts with a different film franchise: Harry Potter. Jonas says that before Turner agreed to date him, he had to agree to watch all the Potter flicks. (We’ll just glaze over the sad fact he had never seen them up until that point.) “Sophie, she said, ‘Look, if we’re going to get married….’ It was actually, ‘If you’re going to date me, you have to watch the Harry Potter movies,” Jonas told Corden.

So he watched them all and fell in love, of course. Then Jonas gave Turner some homework. “I was like, ‘My rule is you have to watch Lord of the Rings.’” And thus a nerdy movie marathon was born.

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas tied the knot last May during a quickie Las Vegas ceremony after the Billboard Music Awards. They had a formal ceremony later that summer. On how they’re coping in quarantine, Turner told Conan O’Brien in early April, “I’m an introvert, I’m a homebody. If I could stay at home all day I would, so this is great for me. I leave my house like once a day to walk my dogs, and then that’s it.”

I wonder what series Turner and Jonas will tackle after Lord of the Rings. Maybe a Game of Thrones rewatch? Fans can only hope.
