Chris Wondolowski spends one-game suspension shirtless and cheering in fan section
Chris Wondolowski, a striker for the San Jose Earthquakes, had to serve the first red card suspension of his 15-year career on Wednesday night. But instead of serving his one-game suspension at home, watching the Earthquakes take on the Philadelphia Union on his couch, Wondolowski found something better to do.
We have a massive game tomorrow night and we need every fan there! I’ll be with the @SanJoseUltras in full voice. Please come join us or at least come say hi!! #Ilovethisteam #unity

Wondolowski decided he’d serve his suspension at the game, sitting with the San Jose Ultras, the Earthquakes’ supporters group. And it shouldn’t be a surprise that he had the time of his life.
He led chants and put on an Ultras shirt.

And then when the Earthquakes scored a goal, he took both of his shirts off, waved them above his head, and cheered like there’s no tomorrow.

A player spending a game cheering in the fan section is one of the coolest things that can happen in sports. And even though the Earthquakes lost to the Union, the experience of watching a game with one of the team’s most-loved players is priceless.
