Dry, but delicious.
The holidays are long over and we're nicely settled into the new year, but if you still want to celebrate during #DryJanuary (and don't want any alcohol), a delicious mocktail is your answer. Or, if you overdid it a tad in 2022, especially towards the end, and want to get back on a slightly more sober foot, mocktails to the rescue!
What are mocktails?
Mocktails mimic alcoholic cocktails, but because they are alcohol-free, you can drink them without any guilt. Sangria, Moscow Mules, Shirley Temples—you name it, they can be made sans booze. Spritzers are especially great as mocktails and can be made with a variety of ingredients, plus fruit and juice. Another great thing about mocktails? They can be made as big batches ahead of time and are ready to serve if you have company coming over—who are also steering clear of alcoholic libations. Plus mocktails are perfect for kids!
How to make mocktails
A well-balanced mocktail is usually made up of a few parts: something fizzy (like sparkling water or soda), something juicy (either fruit pureé or fresh-squeezed juice) and something herbaceous (like muddled mint). With this trifecta, you can't go wrong.
