Snapchat’s Snap Camera Will Make Your Video Calls More Exciting

While we all practice social distancing, virtual school and work from home have become the norm for the foreseeable future and, honestly, it's hard to know how to dress for the occasion. Are we still expected to look dressed up or can we keep it casual? Can we just dress nice on top and wear pajama pants since nobody will see below our chests on Zoom anyway? And, perhaps most importantly, do we even need to do our makeup? Well, thankfully, with the help of a new Snapchat tool, we don't have to worry about that last one.

Snap Camera is a new tool developed by Snapchat and it basically allows us to use as many beauty filters available on Snapchat but from your laptop — something that comes in more than handy in this time of daily Zoom calls.

To use Snap Camera, one simply needs to download the app on our desktop device and find the filter that best fits our needs. Since it works with our device's built-in camera, then, we only need to go to Zoom (or your preferred video conferencing app!) and change the camera settings to "Snap Camera." And there you go! It's as easy as that.

There are beauty filters on Snap Camera to clear your complexion and make your skin look smoother, but there are also some that do your eye makeup. Of course, you can still do a full face from the comfort of your home if you're feeling inspired but, if you're not and still want to look "done up," Snap Camera is a clear godsend.

"I thought my teeth looked crazy white and skin super tan on zoom yesterday and just realized I had the snap camera on the whole time lollll but hey it made me look f*cking great when I hadn’t showered sooooo thx for making this 'not trying while at home' thing easier snap!" tweeted one user while another said, "I have Snap Camera on my computer, y'all ain't ready for my video effects in these online meetings."

The beauty filters aren't the only offering from Snap Camera. There are a plethora of other filters to choose from, many of them funny — like turning yourself into a potato or piece of Pizza. If you're a fan of Brittany Broski — aka Kombucha Girl from TikTok — then you'll know exactly what we're talking about. Thanks to Snap Camera, video calling just got a whole lot better!
