Today, it's the customizable Cabana X, a modern day take on a pergola and an instant enhancement to your backyard.
There are several little luxuries I’ve missed over the past year that all seem to revolve around taking a vacation. So rather than focusing on what I don’t have access to, I’ve been looking at my own backyard, reimagining it as a true and permanent oasis. That’s when I came upon Cabana X, launched by StruXure, a company known for designer pergolas. Think of it as a 100-square-foot outdoor room that can be used for everything from dining to lounging to yoga-ing—to even enhancing your WFH life. It’s basically an instant open-air WeShed.
So what exactly is it? Cabana X is a customizable alternative to a traditional permanent shade structure. It’s 4-post, 4-beam, extruded aluminum piece that's finished with a durable powder coat finish, meant to withstand most weather conditions. It uses technology by Somfy, the company known for motorized window treatments, to allow you to control the 17-louver roof cabana. And, since this piece is technically classified as a piece of furniture, no special permits (or even a foundation) are required. You can quickly assemble it on-site and get to lounging.
The company has launched two versions of Cabana X, Core and Tech, in combination black, white, and teak finishes. The 10’ x 10’ structure also offers many add-ons to make it perfectly suitable for your outdoor-anything needs: Both models include enhancements like curtain rods, Sunbrella draperies, and corbels for a more traditional look. A foldable couch can be added on for a built-in seating area that hides away when not needed (for instance, now you need that space for a little intimate alfresco dinner). Optional decorative panels provide enhanced privacy, and with the power panel, can hold your new Samsung Terrace TV for the most versatile outdoor entertaining. The Tech model offers all these enhancements, plus app-controlled LED lights, environmental and weather detection, so, for instance, if there's rain the louvers will automatically close.
Pricing for the Core model starts at $7,997 and the Tech model starts at $9,497.
