I took a break last Friday. If you’ve been following, I’ve been dealing with some, erm, issues. Issues that require much more physical exertion than I’m used to. I still have a long way to go, but I’ve made great headway. And to reward myself, I decided to spend the weekend in Queens. More specifically, at Rockaway Beach. A respite from the grind, the hamster wheel of deadlines and putting up drywall, was much needed. I put my feet up, party-hopped like it was my job, drank half-glasses of cold beer (cc: Lauren Kranc), skinny-dipped for the first time in a decade, and even went fishing. Me, fishing! Like turning into Bob Vila, I would have never imagined it. But there I was, enjoying casting a line and flirting with the captain—also like it was my job.

This is what this week’s releases are all about: getting some R&R. We’re not machines; we need breaks and the capacity to log off and unwind. And if you’re looking to go on your own much-needed beachbound adventure, you’re going to, firstly, want to get your hands some really good footwear: sleek sport sandals from a collab between Teva and Coco and Breezy, fisherman mules from Malone Souliers, and boat-ready sneakers from Sperry. You’re also going to want a nice top, and Tombolo has a nifty one. As for shorts? Queen Bey has a style, and so does Flan.

Now, all you have to do is shop these items, request some PTO, and scurry to Queens, or whatever beach is closest.
