"Six months. And I realize it’s not good enough to *hope* this nugget grows up in a better world. And I have guilt that I’m not doing enough to affect change. And I admit, most days I don’t even know what to do," Mina wrote this week on Instagram. "But I will start in my home. With my kids."
6 months. ::::::: And I realize it’s not good enough to *hope* this nugget grows up in a better world. And I have guilt that I’m not doing enough to affect change. And I admit, most days I don’t even know what to do. But I will start in my home. With my kids. 🖤

The HGTV host took to Instagram more than once last week to speak out about racial issues following the death of George Floyd. When asked by one commenter to elaborate on what specific steps she was taking, Mina shared the following:
"I bought a few kids books that just came in of a great list that teaches little ones about diversity and also a really cone one about bada** women of all colors. Also our choice of location to live, right in the city, was largely based on wanting out kids to have access to more diversity and culture than tends to exist in more suburban areas. But there is definitely more work to be done as Jack gets older."
Mina recently and "unexpectedly" lost her sister-in-law, Stefanie Hawk. The family was not able to host a gathering to remember Stefanie at the time because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The tragedy came in the wake of happier news for Mina, who had recently revealed she was pregnant following a challenging journey to conceive a second child.
“I’ve planned my whole life around this,” she told People magazine in an exclusive interview. “The floor plan of my house has two kids’ rooms and a playroom. We’re supposed to be a big family.
