Every time that Simone Biles has competed, she’s won.

This past Sunday at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships, Biles claimed her seventh all-around title with a score of 119.650. Biles’ sheer talent and power can be difficult to comprehend, but her statistics make it more clear: with this most recent win, Biles has continued her undefeated streak of winning every all-around competition she’s competed in since 2013.

Biles (who makes history on a regular basis) recently made headlines with her stunning debut of a Yurchenko double pike, a move that made her the first woman to ever successfully perform it in competition. Her seven national titles are the most won by any American female gymnast — the last woman to win three titles, let alone seven, was gymnast Kim Zmeskal in the early 90s — and she is currently the most decorated gymnast of all-time.

"I feel like every single championship stands out for a different reason, but this one stands out specifically because it's the road to Tokyo," Biles said after her win. "We came out here, and we did what we were supposed to."

18-year-old Sunisa Lee and 20-year-old Jordan Chiles joined Biles on the winner’s podium at Sunday’s event, with Lee as the runner-up. For this year’s Olympics, the gymnastics team size has been reduced from five spots to four. It’s speculated that the trio of Biles, Lee, and Chiles will make the cut, leaving only one spot left on the team. According to The Washington Post, Biles’s final score of 119.650 put her nearly five points ahead of Lee, and third-place finisher Chiles was still four points ahead of Emma Malabuyo, the fourth-place finisher, with a score of 110.450.

Later this month, from June 24-27, the U.S. Olympic team trials will be held in St. Louis, Missouri. Biles is expected to be a shoo in for this year’s U.S. Olympic team, but has been training intensely and pushing her abilities to uncharted margins in preparation. And if the rhinestone goat emblem featured on her array of customized leotards throughout nationals is any indication, she will not be holding back — the G.O.A.T. is here to stay.

This year’s Summer Olympics in Tokyo are scheduled to be held from July 24 - August 8, 2021, delayed one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
