They may not be real doctors, but they do have real medical supplies. In a timely example of reality being stranger than fiction, television dramas Station 19, The Resident, Grey's Anatomy, and others have donated or are looking to donate hundreds of masks, gowns, gloves, and other supplies needed to treat COVID-19 to local hospitals and medical centers. Station 19 even had 300 N95 masks, the most effective mask at preventing the spread of the coronavirus.

Dr. Karen Law at Atlanta's Grady Memorial Hospital posted boxes of medical supplies outside the building on Instagram, thanking The Resident for its generous donation. She wrote: "Yesterday, I had a serious discussion with the residents about how, though supplies are low, a magical shipment of masks is unlikely to arrive. And yet, a magical shipment of masks DID arrive, in the form of this very generous gesture. This kind of community support means so much to our #frontlineproviders who are making many sacrifices to staff our hospitals and care for our community." Dr. Law also quoted Mr. Rogers, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping."

Similarly, the Ontario, California, police department posted their thanks after Station 19 donated their supplies.

The donations have inspired other medical dramas like The Good Doctor, which is shooting in Vancouver, to seek out centers where they can also donate supplies. As the virus continues to spread, experts estimate that there will be serious supply shortages, making gifts like these extremely important.

Even if you don't play a doctor on television, there are other ways to donate and help those affected by COVID-19; we've compiled a list of places to support right now. At the very least, stay at home and practice social distancing. It's the best excuse to binge on the latest season of your favorite TV show.
