Prince William and Kate Middleton concluded their 3-day visit to New York City last night. And though she met the First Lady of New York, Chirlane McCray, and hung out with Beyonce and Jay-Z in Brooklyn, our eyes were glued to just one thing: what the Duchess wore. Luckily, she ended her trip in a gown. Unluckily, it was a gown we’d seen not once, but twice, before. She wore a long, emerald, Jenny Packham dress with a pleated detail at the bodice and short sleeves to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It’s not the first Middleton’s shopped her closet, nor is she the first celebrity to wear the same outfit more than once. Fashion magazines are constantly praising the virtues of “investment pieces,” or paying a little bit more for the things that you really love because you know you’ll wear them all the time, and these celebrities are showing us just how well that works. It’s wonderful to see women who are constantly judged for what they wear and how they look be true to themselves—and their style.
