Shop the Kristin Cavallari-approved cutouts trend for as low as $30

Guys, let’s talk cutouts.

I’m not one to turn down a crisp, clean top with cutouts. I’m not talking Kendall Jenner at Vanity Fair’s Oscar party this year, or going out to the club cutouts. I’m talking tasteful, cool, edgy cutouts. Less is more.

If you’re like me and you’re not super into patterns, cutouts are great because they add a fun element to your top, while giving it an extra cool edge. This week on the season premiere of Very Cavallari, Kristin Cavallari wore a super adorable black tank with cutout detailing and exposed wiring. It was basically the only thing I could think about for the remainder of the episode.

If you aren’t sure how to incorporate cutouts into your wardrobe without feeling like you’re going to the club, keep scrolling to shop some top recommendations.

I recently purchased this Zara cutout top for $30.

I love this top so much because it has long sleeves and a high collar, with just a little slit across the upper chest area. It doesn’t reveal any cleavage, but it still gives a hint of sexiness to your look. Since I’m on-camera almost every day of my life, I always buy clothes that are more on the conservative side. Through styling myself over the years, I’ve discovered that you don’t need to show off any of your body parts to look sexy. All it takes is a little bit of edge. I know, I’ve mentioned “edge” a few times now. What does this mean?

Something “edgy” is cool, tough and confident — personality traits that I try to live by in my own daily life. This is why I find myself attracted to pieces that have clean lines and are black or white, with a few pops of color here and there.

Here are a few more suggested cutout options.

I generally dress on the more casual side, so I would tone down a sexy top by pairing it with some tomboy-style pants. I’ve been on the hunt for some really great and comfortable camo pants for a while now that also fit well. I found this amazing pair at Forever 21 for only $35!

They were legitimately so good that I ordered a second pair. When shopping for cool pants, think baggy. Don’t be afraid to take risks with color. Take, for example, these orange cargo pants, which I also recently added to my wardrobe collection.

Or these sick utility-style pants, which I totally want to add to my closet.

And, of course, finish the look off with a dope pair of sneakers because, if all else fails, your kicks will distract. Try the Nike Air Force 1 ’07 or, if you want to really enhance the cool-factor, cop yourself a pair of Jordan 1s or the Adidas Falcon sneakers.

Jordan also recently released the Air Jordan 1 Retro Low Slip, which is a dope alternative to the classic Air Force 1s, and you won’t need to hunt them down on the resell market (just yet). They are a must-have come summertime.

If you’re doing a night out, you can dress up the slit-detailed top by wearing it with a skirt, like Cavallari did on her E! reality show, or with some black leather pants and your favorite heels.

That’s my look of the week! I’d love to see the outfits you put together. Tweet me @KylieEricaMar, and send me pics!
