  • Sherri Shepherd said that she’s “concerned” for Wendy Williams, in a recent Instagram Live, urging followers to pray for Williams: “She’s going through a lot.”

  • During a recent Instagram Live of her own with rapper Fat Joe, Wendy Williams said that she would not be watching Sherri Shepherd’s new show, set to replace The Wendy Williams Show, this fall.

  • Shepherd said despite Williams’ remarks, she is not mad at the former host.

Fans have been concerned for Wendy Williams since she announced that she’d be taking a break from her talk show due to health concerns, which ultimately led to her show ending after 13 years. And now, Sherri Shepherd is voicing concerns of her own for the former talk show host.

“I’m truly concerned about her because I don’t feel there’s anybody over there protecting her, and it’s really hard when there’s no protection around you, and you just have people hanging on,” Shepherd said.

The comments were made after Williams said in an Instagram live with rapper Fat Joe, that she didn’t plan on watching Shephard’s new show. So, over the weekend, Shepherd took to Instagram to address Williams’ comments.

“I did hear Wendy say she will not watch me on the new show and that’s ok. You know, I understand. I’m not mad at Wendy,” Shepherd said. “She’s going through a lot. I would say that everybody should be praying for Wendy right now.”

During Shepherd’s Instagram Live, a viewer asked if she thought Williams was “bitter” about how everything has played out since her health issues began. “She’s not well. It’s just a lot going on in Wendy’s life,” Shepherd responded.

She continued, “She’s by herself. It’s not like she’s got her husband Kevin. She’s by herself. The only person that she has that’s taking care of her is her 21-year-old son Kevin Jr., and he’s 21.”

The comedian and TV host ended her comments with, “All I can do over here is pray for Wendy.”

In the Instagram Live between former The Wendy Williams Show guest host Fat Joe and Williams, the 57-year-old revealed she would have had a different pick for the new host in her time slot.

“I love everyone hosting it,” Williams said. “But if I only had one person, I wish you [Fat Joe] only did that. Always. And then I come back and whenever I wanna fly away someplace else for a little while, then you do it again. I love you two [Remy Ma], or just her or just you.”

When Fat Joe asked Williams if she had plans to return to The Wendy Williams Show she immediately responded, “Absolutely, absolutely.” But when he asked Williams if she planned to tune into Shepherd’s new show starting this fall, Williams said, point-blank, that she does not.

“I like her, but I won’t be watching her because I know what she’s going to be doing and that’s really not my thing,” Williams said. “Anyway, but I love being on my own show and I love that people love to watch it all the time.”

Williams originally revealed her health issues and subsequent hiatus from her eponymous talk show in May 2020. The TV host has battled Graves Disease since February 2018, and since announcing her diagnosis, she’s continuously updated fans on the status of her show. Unfortunately, she had to continue to postpone The Wendy Williams Show through the fall of 2021 due to “ongoing health issues” and she even canceled all public appearances to undergo “health evaluations.”

In a previous statement to People about the cancelation of her show, William’s rep Howard Bragman said, “She understands why this decision was made from a business point of view, and she has been assured by Debmar-Mercury that should her health get to a point where she can host again and should her desire be that she hosts again that would be back on TV at that time.”

We wish Williams well as she continues to work on her health, and look forward to a day when both Williams and Shepherd will be on TV!
