A sheriff’s office in South Carolina is recognizing the service of its officers, who went above and beyond the call of duty Wednesday to help their colleagues. Several officers stepped in to take care of the child of two fellow law enforcement agents, who were out serving their community when they were scheduled to pick up their son.

Corey and Jenn Chadwick, a married couple who both work as Greenville County law enforcement officials, were both scheduled for late-night shifts that interfered with picking their son up from day care. Luckily, the lieutenant of Corey’s platoon at the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office quickly offered to pick up baby Reagan and bring him back to the department’s offices while his parents finished their shifts.

“Law enforcement is a brotherhood,” a post on the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page read, alongside photos of numerous officers changing, feeding and holding the little boy. “We back each other up in more ways than one.”

Jenn Chadwick, who works for the Greenville City Police Department, tells Yahoo Lifestyle that her husband’s department is truly one of a kind, and has been there for the family since Day 1.

“It’s hard for me to express my gratitude for Corey’s department as a whole, and in particular his platoon,” Jenn says. “Not everyone can say they work for a place that sees them as more than just a uniform or a body on the road. The leadership on Bravo Platoon truly cares for its employees and recognizes that we’re real people with families and a life outside the patrol car.”

Corey echoed his wife’s sentiments with a comment on the viral Facebook post, writing that his fellow officers “bend over backwards to help Reagan, my wife, and I.”

“These guys are family to me,” he wrote. “They look after my family as their own. There aren’t enough words to express our gratitude to these leaders. They are really cut from a different cloth.”

Hundreds of other people have reacted to the photos, to share their appreciation for the officers who show they are serving and protecting their community, both on duty and off. One even called the men the “best nannies ever.”

“Now this is what I like to see. It shows police officers are humans like the rest of us and have hearts bigger than most,” one person wrote. Another commented, “Proud of what you do daily on the streets and how you back each other up…Especially changing the diaper.”
