When it comes to shopping for clothes, I have no problem splurging. I'd much rather spend more money on something that'll last me for years rather than buy something that costs less and is of lower quality. But there's an exception to the rule: I don't like overspending on tights because they split and tear after a couple of wears anyway. So my thinking here is, why would I drop the big bucks on something I could only wear once or twice?

But over the last few months, I have been seeing several ads of Sheertex—a brand that prides itself on its unrippable tights that are designed to last 10 times longer than traditional pantyhose—all across my Instagram. Watching the videos of the hosiery being tugged and yanked in all different directions without tearing surely piqued my interest, but when I saw the steep price of $89, I was a bit hesitant at first. "Do I take a gamble on trying them out, or do I stick to the usual pair I order on Amazon?" I thought to myself. But after many ads later, I finally caved in November... and let me tell you, I have been influenced—and I don't say that lightly because very rarely does an Instagram ad win me over.

Every pair of Sheertex tights are made from ultra-strong polymers that are typically used for climbing equipment and bulletproof vests. The brand even built its own in-house lab to test the durability of the hosiery to prove how strong they really are. So off the bat, you can get an idea of how resilient they are and how serious the brand takes the manufacturing.

I decided to buy the sheer micro dot pair, but the company also offers a range of tights in several opacities, patterns, and colors. I figured the polka-dot style was fun, and it would add a little interest to my winter dresses and maxi skirts, yet wasn't too over-the-top for more conservative settings.

On first wear, they felt like your run-of-the-mill pantyhose. But the more I have gotten to wear them, the more I have grown to love them and see how durable they truly are. They really are incredibly comfortable, and I love the fact they feature a compression band that provides some tummy control and shapes my waist. They are also super stretchy yet won't stretch out nor run with every wear. And get this, at one point, the zipper to one of my boots got caught to the pair (which, for obvious reasons, elicited a big "oh no" out of me), but to my amazement, they didn't rip. Though, if they did end up tearing, Sheertex would've replaced them for free since this occurred within 90 days of my purchase, which is another cool perk.

Suffice to say, I am impressed and will no doubt be getting the classic option now so I can toss all my cheap, disposable pairs out. Yes, Sheertex is pricey, but once you try them out, you'll see for yourself why they're worth it and a bang for your buck in the long run.
