The Pretty Little Liars star and her partner, Matte, welcomed their daughter, Atlas, in 2019. They're currently expecting their second child. Exciting stuff!

In a recent interview with BuzzFeed, Shay opened up about how pregnancy has affected her mental health, and why she wishes the subject was less stigmatized.

"The first time around, it was super important for me to talk about prepartum depression," Shay said. "I hadn't heard much about it, which is why I kind of went on a whole thing speaking about my experience."

"I wanted people to feel like they weren't 'crazy,' like they weren't alone if they weren't feeling like a glorious goddess during their pregnancy," Shay continued. "It's okay to actually not feel amazing."

She emphasized that she's still "extremely grateful" to be pregnant, and that acknowledging the hardships that come with pregnancy doesn't mean she's not thankful: "That doesn't mean that you're not grateful to be pregnant — I am extremely grateful. But there were also times where I was like, this is shitty. And that's okay! We don't all have to be pregnant, glowing goddesses the whole entire time."

For her second pregnancy, Shay is letting herself be open about the ups and downs, enjoying time with Atlas, and staying active. "During my first pregnancy, I sat in bed and watched Game of Thrones," she said. "But this time around, I’ve gotta keep it moving."
