  • Shark Tank star Barbara Corcoran recreated Martha Stewart’s recent Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover.

  • The 74-year-old wore a near-identical outfit: a white plunging one-piece swimsuit and a billowing gold cover-up.

  • “I can’t cook, but I sure can swim,” she captioned the post.

The main goal behind Martha Stewart’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover, which she posed for at 81, was to encourage readers to make bold moves at any age. And it’s safe to say its ripple effects are already taking shape. Not only did the cover go viral, but at 74, Shark Tank star Barbara Corcoran took it upon herself to recreate the iconic swimsuit moment for Instagram—and she hit the nail on the head, from outfit to pose to confidence.

In the photo, Corcoran is perched before a window wearing a plunging white one-piece and a gold satin fabric sheet fashioned as a cover-up, just like the one Stewart wore in her shoot. But instead of the Dominican Republic jungle behind her, Corcoran’s backdrop is a lush green New York City skyline.

“I can’t cook, but I sure can swim. @si_swimsuit @marthastewart48,” Corcoran captioned the post. Fans and followers were obsessed with the look, and even Stewart herself left a celebratory comment. “Looking great Barbara Corcoran!!!!!” she wrote. “Stunning Barb,” another added. “Get it girl,” someone else wrote.

With her cover, Stewart became the oldest person to pose for Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit edition. And she’s clearly delighted by its fast-acting influence. In fact, the lifestyle mogul has spent the last week fielding feedback from friends and fans alike (and she’s already had to stomp out rumors about plastic surgery, Botox, and fillers).

“It certainly has aroused an interest in many, many different places,” Stewart recently told Variety, adding that award-winning journalist Gayle King, 68, even reached out to congratulate her. “She wrote, ‘Congratulations, this is really great. You look stunning, and blah, blah, blah.’ I wrote back to her, ‘Next year is your year.’ She wrote back, ‘I would have never even considered that it would happen, but now?’” Stewart recalled.

And that’s just one of many ways Stewart’s contribution to the pro-aging movement is showing up. “That’s what’s happening. People are now reimagining their future. And that’s what it’s all about,” she said. “You can call upon the past but reimagining the future for yourself, for your family, for anybody is a very good thing right now, because of the chaos this world is in.”

By not allowing age to limit her, Stewart has forged a new path for herself, and by proxy, is doing so for others. “Age is not the determining factor in terms of friendship or in terms of success,” she told Sports Illustrated. “But what people do, how people think, how people act, that’s what’s important and not your age.”
