Serena Williams Wore a Lavender Tutu for the (U.S. Open) Win
Thus far, Serena Williams’s U.S. Open fashion choices have been total aces (example: her black Nike dress). Yesterday, the 23-time Grand Slam winner did not disappoint when she hit the court in a dress fit for the queen of tennis.
Williams donned a lavender one-shoulder number she designed via her Nike and Virgil Abloh’s Off White label collab to defeat Carina Witthoeft, 6-2, 6-2. But outfit of the series wasn’t all she won. She’ll now also advance to the U.S. Open’s third round, where she’ll face off against her sister Venus for a match to remember.
The new mom’s lavender tutu comes at a time when her fashion choices have taken center stage court in the tennis community. Earlier this week, the French Open announced its decision to ban outfits like the spectacular black catsuit she wore during the tournament last spring.
Looks like the stuffy rules of tennis have met their match.
