Serena Williams will 'take my tennis racket' to her daughter's body shamers

Tennis great Serena Williams visited The View and shared the reasons she wrote to her mom after giving birth to her daughter, Alexis Olympia. In September, Williams wrote an open letter to her mother on Reddit, saying, “I was looking at my daughter (OMG, yes, I have a daughter ) and she has my arms and legs! My exact same strong, muscular, powerful, sensational arms and body.” She included a side-by-side picture of her baby and herself on Instagram.

She told the hosts of The View, I’ve been body-shamed basically since I’ve been in the public eye.”

Recognizing that her daughter might suffer the same body shaming, Williams praised her mother for remaining strong during those trying times.

She jokingly added, “I don’t know how she did it because if anyone were to say anything about Olympia, like, I’d take my tennis racket and be like, ‘Let’s talk now.’”
