Serena Williams Takes Meghan Markle’s Favorite Shoe Brand for a Spin

Serena Williams just joined the ranks of Amal Clooney, Emma Roberts, Lady Gaga, Cindy Crawford, and of course, her dear friend Meghan Markle.

The 38-year-old tennis star donned a pair of boots from the Duchess of Sussex’s favorite shoe brand, Sarah Flint, when she took the stage at yesterday’s 2019 Forbes 30 Under 30 Summit. Williams selected the Sophia boot in black for her chat about financial abuse and we have to say, she looked seriously chic.

Williams’s new black Italian suede Sarah Flint Sophia boots ($565) feature an almond toe, a 3.5-inch heel and asymmetrical folded detailing. They’re handcrafted in Italy and the suede is dyed three times so it will never fade. The boots also include a rubber sole, so an unexpected rain shower won’t ruin them. Markle herself has gravitated toward the Sarah Flint Marina boot, $695 in olive leather.

The 23-time Grand-Slam winner paired her boots with the Alicia plaid cropped jacket ($139) and utility pants ($109) from her eponymous line, Serena, as well as the collection’s Jolie textured black turtleneck ($80). She added a pop of color to her business-casual ensemble with a purple purse, meant to represent her work with Allstate’s Purple Purse Foundation, which aims to break the cycle of domestic abuse through financial empowerment.

First the Duchess of Sussex paid homage to her close friend by donning a Serena blazer on royal tour and now Williams is returning the favor and giving Markle’s go-to shoe brand a sartorial shout-out. We love it.
