To pull off the glitz and drama that a sheer, red-hot, feather-trimmed night robe requires, one must first have the kind of confidence that Serena Williams clearly carries.

Earlier this week on Instagram, the Grand Slam–winning tennis icon posted pictures of herself modeling the fiery number from a recent photo shoot. With some help from her team (hairstylist Angela Meadows, makeup artist Natasha Gross, stylist Kesha McLeod, and photographer Ronald Wayne), Williams evoked old Hollywood glamour as she posed against a dramatically lit staircase backdrop. Under the robe, Williams wore a maroon body-con minidress with red pumps.

"Glam ✅ Lighting ✅ Robe envy @chrissyteigen ✅✅✅," Williams captioned the photo, noting Teigen's known love of robes.

Beyond glamorous photo shoots, Williams recently brought meaningful fashion to the tennis courts. Earlier this month, for her first match in the 2021 Australian Open, Williams wore a color-blocked, asymmetrical unitard, a nod to the late track athlete Florence Griffith Joyner, widely known as Flo-Jo, who popularized the asymmetrical gear in the late '80s.

After winning her match, Williams said in a postgame interview, per The Guardian, "I was inspired by Flo-Jo, who was a wonderful track athlete, amazing athlete, when I was growing up. Watching her fashion, just always changing. Her outfits were always amazing."

She added that she collaborated with Nike to create the look. "This year we thought of what can we do to keep elevating the Serena Williams on the court. The Nike team actually thought of this design of inspiration from Flo-Jo. I was like, 'Oh, my God, this is so brilliant,'" she said. "That's where we started. Obviously we made some changes and tweaks to it. It became this."
