Selma Blair Makes an Emotional Red Carpet Appearance After Revealing Multiple Sclerosis Diagnosis
Selma Blair revealed in an Instagram post last October that she has multiple sclerosis. "I have #multiplesclerosis . I am in an exacerbation. By the grace of the lord, and will power and the understanding producers at Netflix , I have a job. A wonderful job. I am disabled. I fall sometimes. I drop things. My memory is foggy. And my left side is asking for directions from a broken gps," she wrote. "But we are doing it."
And on Oscar night, she made her first red carpet appearance since announcing her diagnosis. She stepped in front of the cameras at the Vanity Fair Oscar party in a Ralph & Russo gown and a cane. Blair broke down in tears, overcome with emotion. "It took a lot to come out here," she said. The photo pit cheered her on.

"I have arrived @shondarhimes @vanityfair Oscar dinner," she captioned a photo of her and Shonda Rhimes at Vanity Fair's Oscar dinner. "Congratulations to all the amazing talent."
In January, the Cruel Intentions actress updated fans about her journey and admitted that the disease "is uncomfortable. It is a stadium of uncontrollable anxiety at times. Going out, being sociable holds a heavy price. My brain is on fire. I am freezing. We feel alone with it even though the loving support has been a god send and appreciated."
