Accepting her 2023 Billboard Music Award in the best Afrobeats song category, Selena Gomez exuded effortless glamour in a charming floral dress. The colorful and see-through sleeveless frock boasted 3D crocheted flowers, which added a whimsical touch to her look. Secured with a graceful ribbon tied at the neck, the style icon looked ready to revel in the festivities of her achievement, which she scored for her hit song “Calm Down.” Gomez collaborated with Nigerian rapper Rema, 23, on the danceable track.
As for her glam, the “Lose You To Love Me” hitmaker wore her signature raven tresses in a slicked-back, elegant high ponytail. For her makeup look, the Rare Beauty mogul went for classic black winged liner, sky-high lashes, radiant blush and a glossy nude lip.
"Hi, Billboard!" Gomez said in the clip while holding up her trophy. "Thank you guys so, so much for this award." In her acceptance speech, she added: "This is honestly Rema’s doing. He chose me to be a part of such an incredible song. So I want to thank him and thank all of you for streaming and listening and I wish we could be there. But thank you!"
Last week's awards show, which the Billboard Music Awards has described as a "reimagined" version of its usual format, included various performances and award celebrations held in different parts of the world. "Calm Down" was nominated in four additional categories at this event, including Top Radio Song, Top Collaboration, Top Billboard Global 200 Song and Top Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) Song.
