  • Selena Gomez opened up about her relationship with Justin Bieber in a new NPR interview.

  • She says that she feels like she was a victim of emotional abuse.

Selena Gomez is still making the press rounds for her new album Rare, which means that we're still getting insights about her past relationship with Justin Bieber.

NPR just released a new interview with Selena this morning, and in it Selena gets pretty candid. Firstly, she says that since 2015, (when her previous album was released) she's had "a few of the worst moments of my life" due to medical and emotional reasons. But then things get really interesting when she talks about her single "Lose You To Love Me," which is about Justin. She says, "I felt I didn't get a respectful closure, and I had accepted that, but I know I needed some way to just say a few things that I wish I had said....It was very difficult and I'm happy it's over."

The interviewer then name-checks Justin, and Selena goes on to say, "I do feel I was a victim to certain abuse —." The interviewer asks, "You mean emotional abuse?" and Selena responds:

Yes, and I think that it's something that — I had to find a way to understand it as an adult. And I had to understand the choices I was making. As much as I definitely don't want to spend the rest of my life talking about this, I am really proud that I can say I feel the strongest I've ever felt and I've found a way to just walk through it with as much grace as possible.

Justin has yet to respond, and for now you can listen to the who interview here:
