Fresh after the release of her personal documentary film, My Mind and Me, Selena Gomez is getting ready for the next chapter of her career, which includes new music. In her latest interview with Zane Lowe to promote her documentary on Apple TV+, the 30-year-old multihyphenate opened up about her upcoming studio album and what it may entail.
"To be honest, I'm now telling stories that people don't know. People I've dated that people don't know," Selena explained during her live Q and A with Zane at the Apple Tower Theatre located in downtown Los Angeles. "Experiences I've had that people don't know. I've created this private life that's just mine."
"Now I have to tell these stories and people are going to ask a lot of questions…If I'm being completely honest it's been really difficult. I'm really used to go going into a setting with the same people in my circle and banging out music," she continued.
Selena's last English-language album, Rare, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart in January 2020. She went on to release a Spanish-language EP, Revelación, in 2021, for which she also earned her first-ever Grammy nomination for Best Latin Pop Album.
"There's something about Latin music that globally just makes people feel things," Selena said in a previous interview with Zane Lowe in 2021. "You know, what's funny is I actually think I sing better in Spanish. That was something I discovered, it was a lot of work and you cannot mispronounce anything. It is something that needed to be precise and needed to be respected by the audience I'm going to release this for," she explained.
