Is Selena Gomez sending us a message? On Instagram, Gomez posted a makeup-free selfie with a reference to a new Miley Cyrus song in the caption—a noteworthy move considering the unusual amount of social media scrutiny she's been under lately, as well as the supposedly long-running feud she had with Cyrus, according to rumor. 

“Violet chemistry,” Gomez wrote in the caption next to her two barefaced selfie pics. “Violet Chemistry,” for those unaware, is the name of a track off Cyrus's new album, Endless Summer Vacation, which Gomez has been hyping on social media from the jump. When Cyrus announced the upcoming album on her IG, for instance, Gomez wrote in the comments, “Damn,” per Billboard. And in the comments of Gomez's latest post, Cyrus dropped a single red heart emoji.

While the Rare Beauty founder has been showing her confidence on social media, she's also acknowledged that some of the body-shaming comments her posts have generated in the past have been extremely hurtful. 

“Though I was posting these things saying it doesn't bother me, because I didn't want it to bother other people who are experiencing the same thing, getting shamed for what they look like, who they are, who they love…. I just think it's so unfair,” Gomez said in an episode of the Apple TV docuseries Dear. “I don't think that anybody deserves to feel less than.”

Personally, I hope Selena Gomez never stops showing fans her bare face.
